Everything Begins with Nature, and Everything Returns to Nature. The main concept is to integrate and connect the ancient trees with village living. From ancient times to the present, urban life hasn’t been the origin form of mankind, it emerged after years of social and cultural evolves.
At the very beginning of human existence, trees and forest played very important part in people’s daily life, for this reason, our design research started form this angle, aiming to establish an architecture form which will reflect, redefine and rebuilt with the nature.
The hotel space is decomposed into “boxes” of various sizes of functions and themes, flexibly scattered among the ancient trees. The trestle paves around the lakeside and penetrates into the surrounding mountains until the peak viewing platforms. There are Villa Guest House on the lakeside, Tree House guesthouse floating of tree gaps, Mansion House on along the mountains ridge, townhouse on the mountain slope forests. The architectural forms rise and fall in response to the mountains.
Tree houses are congregating a floating village of tree gaps, and the interior space concentrates on up-and-down vertical circulation, which not only emphasizes the “living upon the trees” scenic experience, but also have a minimal impact on the growth of surrounding plants.
The space of Mansion Houses are along with the rise and fall of the mountain ridge, and a number of ecological courtyards are placed inside. The living units are arranged around the ecological courtyard, aim to fully engage life with environment.
The Townhouses are designed to adequately follow the hillside terrain, and the design concept of living space is continuation of the integration with local natural ecology. The native plant will be preserved and grow from the new house courtyards according to combined with roof greening, enhance the artistic scenery of the slope forest village.
Consider to maximize the use of natural energy to achieve low-carbon lifestyle, The overall design takes full advantage of natural wind and light, reducing reliance on electric lighting and air conditioning. Considering the hot summer weather of Huizhou. The design of large area window provides good natural lighting and ventilation to the house. The creation of open courtyard help to reducing the air temperature of the room for local hot-humid climate. the architects use photovoltaic panel material as the roof plate to capture the sun rays in the daytime and convert it into electricity for power up the house.
Otherwise, rainwater collection and wastewater recovery systems are installed for the residential green plant irrigation. This series of measures are minimizing the discharge of residential waste to nature. Green energy technology and the concept of centralized water recycling are used throughout the village.
By introducing tree-like forest walkway, inserting landscape nodes to the village house master plan, our design creates a story telling scenery of village living, establishing a sustainable and ecological functioning village life centered around the theme of thousand years old the ancient trees.
