Envoy Vadi is located in Beykoz, Istanbul, on a 5,440-square-meter sloped terrain. Rejecting the monolithic building layout imposed by existing zoning plans, the project proposes a permeable, layered settlement model that harmonizes with the land. The building masses are broken up both horizontally and vertically, ensuring access to views and daylight, and aligning with the natural topography.
The structures are terraced along the slope, creating a formation that resembles a valley. The linear space running through this valley is not merely a circulation route but a shared axis that fosters social interaction and leads users to the heart of the project. Integrated into this axis, a central courtyard serves as a natural stage for daily life and communal encounters. The courtyard includes a social facility with an indoor swimming pool, fitness area, children’s play zones, and multi-purpose halls—striking a balance between social interaction and privacy.
The architectural form encourages interaction while protecting individual privacy. Natural stone, wooden textures, and clean proportions give the project a refined and contemporary identity.
The development features diverse housing typologies tailored to various user needs. Instead of conventional, repetitive floor plans, the design emphasizes diversity of living, spatial flexibility, and connection with the landscape. Each unit is enriched with wide landscape views, water features, and seating areas. Visual connections with the Bosphorus, the sky, and surrounding nature guide the spatial design, shaping a distinctive interior atmosphere for each residence.
In line with sustainability principles, green roof systems have been used to enhance thermal insulation, and rainwater is collected for irrigation, reducing water consumption. Building facades and overhangs are oriented based on sun exposure to lower energy use. Natural ventilation and daylight are maximized. Materials were selected for their local origin, recyclability, and low carbon footprint. A pedestrian-focused circulation network further encourages environmentally friendly transportation.
Envoy Vadi is not merely built on the land—it engages in dialogue with it. It represents an architectural approach that exists with nature, not against it, and serves as a strong example of a new generation of residential design that treats topography not just as ground, but as a guiding element.
